[ Thus, at the agreed upon time, Edgeworth can be found waiting just outside the building, briefcase at his feet as he awaits Sergeant Calhoun's arrival. ]
[She emerges from the station promptly six minutes after her shift is over. She's changed into civilian duds and has a duffel bag slung over her shoulder, her cruiser pack on her back. She gives Edgeworth a nod in greeting as she approaches him.]
[ Which is a small lie, he'd been there precisely on time -- but he hadn't exactly expected her to be, so the distinction scarcely matters. ]
Anyway. [ A beat. ] I've some concerns about communication between the police and lawyers in the city and would like to discuss them with you -- if you've not been made aware of them already.
[ His hand creeps to his cravat to straighten it as he tries awfully hard not to look too wary. It's possible, he reasons, that Brooks would have told her already. That he hadn't needed to talk to her at all. ]
[She quirks one eyebrow at him and makes a bit of a face.]
Edgeworth, this place is up to its neck in issues, communication certainly not being the least of them. The whole city could stand to pull its head out of its rear and straighten up and fly right, but we're not miracle workers.
[She's not really angry, but she's not entirely sure why he's bringing this up to her. She's noticed the problem, but she really doesn't know what he expects her to do about it.]
I haven't been briefed on any specific situations in particular, but it's an understatement to say Exsilium needs a bit of an overhaul on the whole organization front.
Well, there's that instance in which your fellow sergeant disappeared for a week without telling anyone. [ He gives the cravat a tug - it's fine, and he forces himself to stop fiddling with it. ]
But more specifically, I would be referring to the events of that trial the other week.
[She attempts to rein in her impatience, and manages at least halfway. But really, she's not sure what Edegworth expects her to do about this.] Unfortunately what my fellow sergeant does isn't exactly my department. I make my rounds and keep tabs on my juniors, but I can't control Sergeant Howe's actions. [She gives Edgeworth a bit of a frown.] I suppose if it'd make you feel better, though, I could give him a nice long Disappointed Glower.
[And then she rubs her chin.]
Right, the guy who was so strung out like the the London Philharmonic? [Tamora that was really obtuse; we're not talking literal strings here.] I didn't attend the actual proceedings, though. Heard it was a bit of a circus, actually.
